Rare Opportunity To Own A Slice of Liverpool’s Rich History As Grade II-Listed Office Hits Market For Just £1.5million

A Grade II-listed office building on one of Liverpool’s most iconic thoroughfares has gone on the market for just £1.5million.

Lying within the Maritime Mercantile City, 17-21 Castle Street – built in the 1880s – was once at the beating heart of the city’s rich trading history.

Now, the bustling street is at the epicentre of Liverpool’s growing business district and home to the city’s most exciting bars and restaurants, including the celebrity favourite San Carlo.

The 14,500 sq ft building, comprising four storeys and a basement, is being sold by Landwood Group.

Helen Jude, Director of Property at Landwood Group, said: “This stunning and ornate building has been at the centre of Liverpool’s vibrant culture and historic past for more than 140 years.

“With a large physical footprint and an enviable location, the building offers the buyer a chance to be a part of Liverpool’s history, as Castle Street lies at the centre of the city’s exciting future and economic growth.

“Many of the buildings in the vicinity have been converted into hotels and aparthotels, and the building itself has been stripped out internally, so it’s a great opportunity for someone looking to take on a similar project, subject to the agreement of a Section 106.”

In walking distance of Liverpool One, Castle Street provides a connection between Liverpool’s offices and the main retail district.

With excellent transport links, 17-21 Castle Street is just 0.2 miles from both Moorfields and James Street Railway Stations, while Liverpool Lime Street Railway Station is 0.7 miles away and Liverpool Central Railway Station is 0.5 miles away.

Landwood took the property to market in January on behalf of its receivers FRP Advisory, and Helen said the building has since generated “high levels of interest”.

“We’re delighted FRP entrusted us to sell the property on their behalf,” Helen added. “They instructed us to undertake some valuation advice and we provided a formal valuation and strategy advice to ensure the best way to realise the asset and maximise its value.

“We’re confident we will be able to attract a worthy buyer and secure a strong offer for this one-of-a-kind property.”

Landwood Group are experts in property, plant and machinery and business assets. With offices in Manchester and Liverpool, their team of chartered surveyors, project managers, asset managers and auctioneers provide unrivalled expertise across the North West and beyond.
