BRIDGEND, UK, June 9, 2026 – LTi Vessco has been selected to deliver a critical process vessel for a leading UK carbon capture initiative after securing a contract valued at more than £4.5 million from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
Under the agreement, the Bridgend engineering company will manufacture the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Regenerator for the Padeswood carbon capture project in North Wales. The development is a significant step in industrial decarbonisation and aims to help reduce emissions associated with cement production across the UK.
The regenerator column, which will be approximately 56 metres long and over five metres in diameter, will be produced at LTi Vessco’s South Wales manufacturing facility. As a key part of the carbon capture system, the vessel is designed to separate captured carbon dioxide from the absorbent solution. The recovered CO₂ will then be transported via the HyNet pipeline network for permanent storage beneath the seabed.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is providing the carbon capture technology for the scheme, while Worley has been appointed to build the facility. Once operational, the project is expected to capture around 800,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
