Women’s World Cup betting expected to surpass previous records

New Zealand sports fans are expected to place a record-breaking number of bets as the FIFA Women’s World Cup takes place on home turf this summer. According to NZCasinoClub.com, an online casino directory, the rise in popularity of women’s football and the fact that the USA is facing genuine competition for the coveted FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup winner status means that there is great interest in the tournament. Although the USA are favourites to win with odds at +275, England’s Lionesses are close contenders at +350 and many are predicting that they could topple the USWNT (United States Women’s National Team). However, Germany, Spain and France are also in the running and the competition is more open than it has ever been.

The last FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019 saw bets worldwide of around NZD $160m, but NZCasinoClub.com believes that this year’s event will generate bets that far surpass that total. A spokesman for NZCasinoClub.com stated that “The Kiwis love a wager on a good competition and the fact that the FIFA Women’s World Cup is on home territory this year means that the interest is going to be through the roof.” He added that “the excitement around this competition is going to drive bets way beyond anything we have seen before in the women’s game.”

The tournament will involve 32 countries in eight different groups, the first time so many teams have been involved. The opening games will take place in both New Zealand and Australia on 20th July. The final will be held at Stadium Australia on 20th August. The tournament will also have games in Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide in Australia, and in Wellington, Dunedin, and Hamilton in New Zealand.
