Cheshire College students raise a grand amount for Great Ormond Street Hospital

Students and staff in the Performing Arts and Production Arts department at Cheshire College – South & West have raised an impressive £2,026.54 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, following a year of creative fundraising activity.

The charity was chosen by the students themselves, who wanted to support an organisation making a difference to the lives of children and families.

Their decision helped shape a year of fundraising activity, with students taking the lead in organising and delivering a range of events to support the cause.

The total was raised through ticket sales from the department’s Christmas production, Peter Pan, alongside a programme of student-led fundraising events including tombola stalls, music bingo, face painting, and bake sales.

Students volunteered their own time to organise and deliver these events, demonstrating creativity, teamwork and a strong commitment to supporting the charity.

The funds will support Great Ormond Street Hospital’s work caring for seriously ill children and helping families access specialist treatment and support.

Helen Nellist, deputy principal and Deputy CEO at Cheshire College – South & West, praised the achievement: “We are incredibly proud of our Performing and Production Arts students and staff for their commitment and generosity in supporting such an important cause. Raising over £2,000 is a fantastic achievement and reflects the compassion, creativity and commitment they show every day.”

Course leader and lecturer Natasha Hudson shared her pride in the department: “This has been completely student-driven, from planning the events through to delivering them alongside their performances. It’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow over the year, and even more rewarding to see those efforts make a real difference.”

Students are already discussing which charity they support during the next academic year, continuing a tradition of fundraising through performances and student-led events.
