Yorkshire ingredient manufacturer Eurostar Commodities earns top AA grade in BRCGS food safety audit

Eurostar Commodities gains highest announced audit rating, extending its existing certification to cover its manufacturing facilities

A Yorkshire food ingredients manufacturer has strengthened its food safety credentials after achieving the top AA rating under the BRCGS Global Standard Food Safety announced audit programme.

Eurostar Commodities, which supplies specialist ingredients to customers in the UK and international markets, said the accreditation covers its full manufacturing operation, including new facilities developed for gluten-free manufacturing and rice production and packing.

The award is a significant addition to the company’s existing BRCGS Storage & Distribution AA certification and reflects its continued investment in quality and operational standards.

BRCGS certification is widely recognised across the global food industry. Manufacturers, retailers and food businesses use the standard to assess whether suppliers meet requirements covering food safety, product quality, legality and integrity.

The announced audit programme’s AA grade is the highest rating available. Achieving it requires businesses to demonstrate strong performance across a detailed independent assessment, covering areas such as food safety systems, production processes, hygiene, product controls, traceability and consumer protection.

The assessment criteria allow no critical or major non-conformities, with a maximum of five minor non-conformities permitted for an AA result.

The certification gives customers additional independent reassurance that Eurostar’s audited manufacturing facilities meet internationally recognised standards. This is particularly important for businesses relying on consistent ingredient quality, safe products and robust supply chain processes.

Jason Bull, Managing Director of Eurostar Commodities, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved the BRCGS Food Safety AA grade. This is a major achievement for Eurostar Commodities and a reflection of the exceptional standards and dedication of our entire team. Food safety and quality are fundamental to our business. Our customers, from major food manufacturers and retailers to independent bakeries, wholesalers and foodservice operators, depend on us to deliver ingredients that meet the highest standards of safety, consistency and reliability.

“This is not simply about passing an audit. It is about embedding a culture of food safety, quality and continuous improvement throughout the business. We are particularly proud of our team, whose hard work and attention to detail have made this achievement possible. As we continue to grow, innovate and develop new products, maintaining the highest levels of quality and customer confidence will always be at the heart of everything we do.”

Established in 1994, Eurostar Commodities has built a business supplying specialist ingredients to food manufacturers and other industry customers. Its product categories include rice, pizza flour, gluten-free ingredients and British regeneratively farmed wheat flour.

Investment in its facilities, technical expertise and product development has supported the company’s growth across the manufacturing, bakery, wholesale, retail and hospitality markets.

Among its products are Kintaro sushi rice, GMI Italian pizza flours, award-winning gluten-free chapati flours and RISE Re, a flour range made using 100% British regeneratively farmed wheat.

The new accreditation applies to manufacturing at the company’s Brighouse facility and its recently invested-in operations, including dedicated gluten-free production facilities and rice production and packing.

As food businesses place greater emphasis on product provenance, traceability, food security and responsible sourcing, the ability to demonstrate compliance through independent certification is becoming increasingly important.

Eurostar Commodities says the AA result strengthens its credentials as a reliable ingredient partner and supports its plans to expand its product range and continue investing in the business.
