Chester FC managers Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson are trying to strengthen their squad. They are working on signing a couple of forwarding contracts.
The managers talked to a player the previous week and are also planning to work on another loan signing – potentially ahead of the upcoming league game, away to York on 23th of October.
John Johnston’s decided to move nearer to home with the club of North Staffordshire named Kidsgrove Athletic, due to family and work commitments, has given space for a wide player.
Meanwhile, striker Lloyd Marsh-Hughes, who has been a significant part of long-run plans of the club, has linked with Runcorn Linnets on a loan of three-month and there are chances that another player will move out in case the managers can land their milestones.
One possible obstacle is moving one of the targets to move down to the National League North.
Johnson said: “The player we talked to the previous week is still on our radar. He is only twenty-five years old and has played in the National League and Football League shortly in his career.
“We are working on that still, so we are expecting to hear back on that anytime soon. I am not very hopeful about getting it done during this week.
“Then we have been speaking to one or two other clubs about hopefully inducing someone in on loan too. We think we require something a little different to get us up the pitch, a bit quicker, sharper, and more direct.
“Since ‘JJ’ (Johnston) left, we require a bit of pace and width, so that is something we are seeking for.
“If we can tick that case we will be pleased.”
The managers have made their squad strong already by signing a striker from Ashton United named Jack Redshaw on an initial loan of three-month.
He debuted by scoring as a substitute in the 5-1 victory at home to Blyth, and after that, he made his very first start in Saturday’s goalless draw at Kettering.
Johnson further added: “Jack played for ninety minutes on Saturday; he gave an excellent performance and is only going to continue to become better.
“So it has the makings of a fantastic balance to the squad if we can achieve what we desire over the coming few days.
“Naturally, what occurs with players coming in, is you want to free up a bit of space in your squad, you don’t give players to sit in the stands.”
The new arrivals are possibly to be loans from the list of targets of managers.
Johnson said: “Rather than picking a player due to someone’s recommendation, we should make sure that player is someone whom we know and can make us better.
“So, any athlete that will come in over the upcoming week or so will be a forward type. Although not a striker but someone who can have the impact on game and can higher up the pitch.”
