Tranmere Rovers could be hosting an alternative sport at Prenton Park from next season onward

The Wirral club moved to its current home, Prenton Park, in 1912 and has played football there ever since.

Over the years, Prenton Park has hosted concerts, and music events and is hosting a family festival this summer – but never before has it hosted sporting events outside of football.

Rumours suggest that the club are exploring possibility of hosting rugby union fixtures on their pitch from the 2024/25 season onwards.

In recent years, Liverpool Women’s have played their home games at Prenton Park since 2018 and have watched attendance increase over the years and fanbase grow in the local area.

However, the current deal may expire and they are rumoured to be looking at alternative options, with one of them being St Helens RFC’s Totally Wicked Stadium.
