EW Awards launched to find Chester’s “brilliant young business brains”

Chester’s “brilliant young business brains” will be honoured in a unique new awards ceremony.
Children at senior school, sixth-formers, and those aged up to 25 running a business in Chester, will have the chance to scoop prizes in the newly-created CBC Young Person Business Awards, launched by the Chester Business Club.
Prizes will include access to mentoring from members of the Chester Business Club, hundreds of pounds of Chester Bid vouchers to spend in the City, and tickets to a
Summer awards ceremony where trophies and certificates will be handed out.
A host of top local businesses have come forward to sponsor the awards including DEESURVEYS; Aqueous Digital and Fly High Media. Sponsoring the event is Magnify PR.
Magnify PR founder Nick Owens, a member of the Chester Business Club’s Executive Council, who is overseeing the awards, said:  “Chester is home to some amazing young people, and brilliant young business brains. These Awards aim to celebrate this, and to help encourage a new generation of business leaders who can drive innovation and growth across our great city.
“These awards are one of a kind, and provide an especially unique opportunity for school children and those at college who have entrepreneurial ambitions to be both rewarded, and to get the help and support they need to potentially turn great ideas into reality.”
The Awards will be split into two categories. The first, The Vision Awards, will be open to school children and those at six-form attending schools and colleges in the CH1 to CH4 postcodes.
Those applying must come up with a brilliant new business idea for Chester and explain how they’d make it happen. The full details of how to apply can be found on the Chester Business Club’s website.
The second category, the Young Entrepreneur Award, is open to anyone aged up to 25 who has been running a business in Chester for at least a year. Judging criteria for this award is also online.
Winners will be announced in a special Awards night at the Chester Business Club’s Annual Banquet in July.
Jan Chillery, the chair of the Chester Business Club, said:  “These Awards are a fantastic new initiative which I’m sure will become a huge annual celebration. Many members of the Chester Business Club have kindly agreed to offer their time as mentors for prizes. This could prove a priceless opportunity for a young person dreaming of launching their own business.
“Winners will also get the chance to treat themselves in the shops and restaurants in the City which help make Chester such a vibrant and special city to work and live in. I’m looking forward to meeting those shortlisted in July and celebrating their success.”
