DLA HANDS OVER NEW HOMES SCHEME IN SALFORD

DLA Architecture has completed works and handed over a new residential development in Salford for its client Forshaw Land & Property Group.

Located on the banks of the River Irwell, ‘The Waterhouse’ is an award winning new build scheme of 86 waterside homes that were all sold off-plan.  It provides a range of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with together with two-bedroom duplexes and stunning two and three bed penthouses. On site amenities include a gymnasium, residents lounge, large roof terrace, parking, and cycle storage.

DLA designed the nine-storey scheme in line with planning policy to promote a dense city fringe development with high quality affordable housing.  It forms part of the wider regeneration of Ordsall Riverside with a development that responds well to its urban context with good access to the river and surrounding amenity.

Jonathan Knowles, Director, and Head of the Manchester office at DLA Architecture, said,

“We are pleased to handover this much anticipated scheme that reflects a strong sense of place through high quality, contemporary design that references the heritage of the site which was historically occupied by J and JM Worrall’s Dye works for over 150 years.

“We believe that The Waterhouse acts as a benchmark for future development in the area, through careful detailing and a considered choice of materials, as well as the subtle use of colour: the inset balconies are lined in green glazed bricks, echoing the dyed velvets produced and sold by the dye works.”

Lyndon Forshaw, Managing Director of Forshaw Land & Property Group, said:

We were delighted to work with DLA Architecture to move the project forward after several setbacks for its deliverability and scale and are proud to have delivered a sustainable development that sold out ahead of completion.”

Established over 40 years ago the practice has offices in Manchester, Leeds and London.  Its expertise covers a broad range of sector including workplace, homes, learning, sport, industry, retail, and re-use.
