CHESTER SCORPIONS SCORE FUNDING FROM ANWYL HOMES

A GIRLS’ rugby team is sporting new kits thanks to sponsorship from a local homebuilder.

Anwyl Homes, which is building nearby at Deva Green, provided funds towards new playing shirts and a training day with former England Red Rose international player Katy Daley-McLean.

The under 18s girls’ team, known as The Scorpions, are part of Chester RUFC.

Women and girls’ lead at Chester RUFC Sabrina McGill said: “We are so grateful for the support of Anwyl Homes, who are committed to strengthening families and building stronger, and safer communities. Together, we are helping to make a positive and lasting difference in the lives of the girls that play rugby at Chester RUFC.

“Thanks to the help of our sponsors, Chester RUFC continues to fulfil our mission of supporting the growth and development of girls’ rugby in Chester, providing a safe space for girls to play a sport they love, find new friends and gain confidence for their future lives.

“With the help of Anwyl’s generous sponsorship, we have been able to provide the girls with playing shirts for match days. The new kits give the girls a sense of belonging and show they are all part of the team and each member has an equal value.

“We were also able to provide the women and girls teams with a development opportunity with Katy Daley-McLean, ex England Red Rose international player. She came along to the club and the girls participated in a training session and kicking development session with her.”

Graeme Gibb, sales director at Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Supporting grassroots sport in the community is really important to us as a locally based business. Chester RUFC is providing some great opportunities for girls to play the sport they love and we are delighted to partner with them to sponsor the under 18s team. We hope they will enjoy playing in their new kits.”

Chester Scorpions is actively looking for new players who want to give rugby a try. See www.chesterrufc.com/teams to find out more.

Anwyl is building 142 homes at Deva Green, off Clifton Drive. For more information visit www.anwylhomes.co.uk/deva-green.
