One of the UK’s leading wood flooring specialists, Ted Todd, has launched a new one-of-a-kind brand, Karta, that specialises in graphically re-engineered natural flooring for modern commercial spaces.
A completely new product in the flooring market, Karta is the responsible alternative to single use vinyl or carpet. Each product from the four ranges maximises the usage and yield of the raw material logs and is fully biodegradable, minimising waste.
Ted Todd’s heritage dates back to almost 30 years and is based on a simple ethos – make beautiful wood flooring without compromising on sustainability. Now, the group boasts three brands including Woodworks, the world leader in reclaimed and antique wood flooring.
Karta’s seven unique designs are remastered from reclaimed and restored floors by sister brand Woodworks and are specifically designed for commercial use in spaces like universities, hospitality businesses and workplaces. Customers will have the benefit of high-definition flooring without the bespoke price tag with historical designs that will last forever.
Each design holds a story, with the four Karta ranges named after the original reclamation site; Old War Office, St George’s, Vodka Oak and Loco Works.
Karta’s quick to install 0.64m2 panels and 0.74m2 planks are multi-orientated strand boards with three bonded layers of long wood strands, arranged at right angles to each other. The natural wood fibre used is a truly eco-efficient option with excellent mechanical performance, dimensional stability and sound absorbance.
Karta uses 30 times less energy to produce than vinyl and other plastic based floors and is carbon negative. The boards are commercially durable with a matt finish rating of AC5 and a high-performance coating abrasion-resistance of 6000 revolutions.
