Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a serious collision in Orford.
At around 9.25am on Saturday, police were called to reports of a collision on St Peter’s Way, near to the junction of Orford Lane.
Officers attended the scene and found that there had been a collision between a black Mercedes and a 77-year-old lady.
The pedestrian sustained potentially life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to hospital, where she remains at this time.
The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.
A 52-year-old man from Orford, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving, driving without insurance and drug driving. He has since been released under investigation.
Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone with information which may aid their investigation.
Sergeant Andrew Dennison, said: “This was a serious collision which has left an elderly woman with potentially life-threatening injuries, and we’re committed to doing all we can to establish what took place.
“We are aware that there were several people in the area at the time of the collision, and I would urge anyone who thinks they may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage of it, to come forward.”
