Ofsted success for two North West nurseries in Hapsford and Warrington

A family-owned award-winning Cheshire nursery group is celebrating two successful Ofsted reports.

Dunky’s Day Nursery & Forest School in Hapsford, Frodsham (pictured below), was awarded a Good rating in its first Ofsted inspection – and an Outstanding for personal development.

The nursery at Hapsford Hall on Moor Lane opened in 2022 and is set in a beautiful Georgian hall with a large paddock which is used daily as a Forest School.

Its inspection took place in October and the report praises the nursery’s quality of education, behaviour and attitudes and leadership and management, while highlighting as Outstanding the personal development it provides.

Dunky’s Day Nursery on Old Liverpool Road in Warrington (main picture) has also had a successful Ofsted inspection and has once again secured a ‘Good’ rating in its new report. The nursery celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

The report, following an inspection that took place in November, highlights the nursery’s warm and welcoming environment, effective leadership and management and well thought through curriculum supporting children’s growth and development.

Inspectors noted that children enjoy coming to nursery and separate from their parents well. In the classrooms, children are keen to learn as they explore the highly resourced environment. All are confident as they readily allow visitors to join their play.

Dunky’s Day Nurseries & Forest Schools provide high quality childcare across the North West. There are seven nurseries in the group, which was founded in 2005 by Siobhan McCarroll. She started her career as a nursery nurse before working up to become a manager and opening her first nursery.

Dunky’s has nurseries in Culcheth, Farnworth, Great Sankey, Hapsford, Runcorn, Warrington and Gulliver’s World, and all have gained either ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ in Ofsted inspections.

Dunky’s spokesperson Tracy Towns said: “We’re thrilled at how well our first Ofsted inspection went at our Hapsford nursery and were delighted to receive Good in all areas and Outstanding in Personal Development.

“The inspection was a chance to give our wonderful team of colleagues a chance to shine and to show the inspector the wealth of exciting experiences and learning opportunities that we provide for our children each and every day.

“It was particularly special that so many parents took the time to speak to the inspector and to share lots of lovely feedback on how their children have flourished since being at Dunky’s.

“We’re also pleased that our Warrington nursery has once again secured a Good rating in all areas. Our staff team were eager to showcase the nursery and the amazing environments that we have created, both indoors and outdoors.

“Lots of our staff team have worked at the nursery for many years and this continuation of our Good rating is a great achievement, and a fabulous recognition of the relationships that staff have built up with both children and parents.”
