Professional, scientific and technical

This sector includes specialist services such as scientists, solicitors, marketing, financing and managing specialists and medical experts. According to the data, this industry makes up the largest number of businesses in the report, with Cheshire West and Chester being home to 2800 businesses in this sector. Overall, the North West has 41,460 of these businesses out of 406,280 businesses in England.

Whilst these types of businesses are likely to be run by some of the most highly skilled and trained professionals, if you have expertise and knowledge in this industry, the data suggests that you could potentially create a successful business in this sector in the North West.

Construction

Cheshire West and Chester is home to a total of 1,425 construction companies, with 32,365 across the North West. Businesses in this sector range from construction management and engineering to architecture and designer.

To start a construction business, you’ll generally need some level of skills, experience and expertise in the field as well as the right tools. For general construction work, you’ll usually need to invest in a tool kit consisting of at least a range of spanners, sockets and wrenches as well as screwdrivers, hammer, spirit level and chisels.

Business administration and support services
