Manleys’ Annual Staff Conference 2023: A Swiss Adventure

The Chester-based media law and litigation specialist, Manleys, is known for its annual staff conferences held at exotic locations. These events focus on reviewing the business, envisioning its future, identifying improvement areas, and team-building activities. Past conferences have taken place in various European cities like Marbella, Lisbon, Milan, Palma, and Amsterdam. This year, the team ventured to Geneva, Switzerland, for their latest staff gathering.

The conference kicked off with an evening of fun, featuring a crazy golf match in a Geneva bar, where Sehar Hussain triumphed over Mark Manley in a memorable play-off. The following day was filled with sightseeing, with the team scaling the heights of Mont Blanc. Despite a busy schedule, business responsibilities were attended to, with Sehar Hussain working on urgent legal matters and Managing Director Mark Manley capturing drone footage over a river. The day ended with a split in the team’s evening plans, some opting for rest while others enjoyed live music in Geneva.

The serious business discussions were reserved for Saturday morning, where strategies and personal and business development were the main focus. Manleys prides itself on continuous development, with all staff members actively participating through presentations and suggestions for improvements. The firm’s impressive client list includes royalty, government bodies, NHS Trusts, football clubs, and celebrities, and the conference explored strategies for expanding this roster.

The firm emphasises the importance of reflection for growth. The annual conference is a prime opportunity for team collaboration, idea generation, and celebrating achievements. Over the past year, Manleys has successfully handled a wide range of cases, from shareholder disputes to defending celebrities against defamatory publications, and aims to build on this success.

The conference concluded with a lighter note, a cruise on Lake Geneva, followed by a sumptuous dinner and a karaoke night, rounding off a highly successful and enjoyable event.

New team members Sehar and Emma, who joined the firm in the summer, experienced their first Manleys conference. Sehar, a seasoned litigator from a leading London law firm, supervises Emma and is renowned for her clear advice on complex issues. Their addition significantly strengthens the Manleys team.
