Reported Liverpool target Mbappe’s future still uncertain

Kylian Mbappe’s camp insist no decision has been taken regarding the France striker’s future.

There were conflicting reports over the weekend with newspapers in France claiming Real Madrid had made a breakthrough in their bid to sign the 25-year-old at the end of the season while, in England, the Times suggested the player had grown tired of Madrid’s pursuit and was now eying a move to the Premier League.

In response, Mbappe’s representatives released a statement to RMC Sport today insisting talks over his summer plans had not yet started and that the player wouldn’t be pressurised into doing so until he was ready.

The statement read: “There is no agreement around Kylian’s future, especially since there are no discussions started about it.

“No type of influence could dictate the timing of Kylian’s discussions, reflections or decision.”

Mbappe will become a free agent at the end of the season having rejected the offer of a 12-month extension at Paris Saint-Germain. He is now free to negotiate with clubs outside of France and, while Madrid remain the frontrunners, there is reported interest from Liverpool.

Mbappe has previously claimed to be undecided on his future. Speaking after the Trophee des Champions win over Toulouse last week, he told reporters: “I’m very, very motivated for this year. It is very important.

“As I said, we have got titles to go after and we have already taken one. After that, I haven’t made up my mind yet. I have not made a choice.”
