Cheshire ice cream supplier scoops major deal with Aldi

A Cheshire business is celebrating after signing a new contract with Aldi to run until at least 2027.

Beechdean first started supplying ice-cream to Britain’s fourth largest supermarket back in 2018 and the partnership has gone from strength to strength, with more than 11 million units sold in 2023.

The family-run business is now preparing for its busiest summer yet, with six seasonal product lines available in Aldi stores across the country, including its Sorbet and Cornish Ice Cream.

Beechdean has been producing dairy ice cream for 35 years after its journey first began on the family farm. Now an award-winning business, the factory is located in Tattenhall.

Its ongoing relationship with Aldi has had a significant impact on the business, with the partnership being Beechdean’s first real exposure to large retail volume and helping it operate at a higher level of manufacturing whilst remaining an independent family run operation.

Andrew Howard, co-founder and managing director of Beechdean (pictured with his wife) said: “We have always prided ourselves on the award-winning ice cream we make for Aldi, for both its quality and innovation.

“Signing this new contract is an exciting time for the business and we look forward to a successful summer ahead with the supermarket, continuing to sell our products up and down the country.”

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “Beechdean is a much-valued supplier to Aldi and shares our focus on unique product innovation without compromising on quality.

“We’re excited to see what Beechdean’s creativity leads to next and we will continue to work closely with the business to offer new and tasty products for our customers!”

In 2023, Aldi spent an additional £1.3 billion with British suppliers, and works with around 5,000 suppliers across the UK.
