Officers appeal for witnesses following fatal Mobberley collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a tragic incident in Mobberley, where a driver was hit by his own car and fatally injured.

The collision happened shortly after 12.10pm on Thursday, December 12, on Mill Lane.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward, as they believe the 80-year-old driver was hit by his own silver Kia Sportage as he exited the car.

His passenger, an 80-year-old woman, was also struck by the vehicle.

The driver suffered serious injuries and later died in hospital. The passenger remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers would now like to witnesses to get in touch with them.

Inspector Steve Griffiths from Cheshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is a tragic incident that has happened so close to Christmas. It is vital we can piece together the events of last week to establish exactly what happened.

“We would like to ask any witnesses to come forward. We would also urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time to review their CCTV or dashcam footage for anything relevant.
