Dog and Cat Owners Gain More Lifetime Insurance Choices from Perfect Pet

SALISBURY, UK. October 26, 2026: Dog and cat owners seeking greater flexibility in their pet insurance can now choose from two additional lifetime cover levels introduced by Perfect Pet Insurance. The newly launched £7,000 and £10,000 annual veterinary fee limits broaden the insurer’s product range and provide additional financial protection for eligible treatments.

The announcement marks an expansion of Perfect Pet Insurance’s lifetime policies, offered as part of the Tedaisy Insurance Group.

Previously, customers could select an existing option providing up to £5,000 of cover for each eligible condition.

The new plans introduce a different structure, with an overall annual limit of either £7,000 or £10,000 shared across eligible medical conditions.

For pets requiring extensive treatment for one particular illness or injury, this can mean access to more financial support than the £5,000 per-condition limit would provide.

Both options are designed as lifetime insurance, meaning the veterinary fee limit becomes available again at each annual renewal, subject to the policy continuing.

This is particularly relevant when managing chronic health issues that require repeated veterinary appointments, medication or treatment over several years.

Conditions such as arthritis, diabetes and skin allergies are examples of illnesses that may require this type of continuing care.

Growing Awareness of Veterinary Expenses

The launch comes at a time when veterinary costs are attracting increased attention from consumers and regulators.

Data from the Association of British Insurers shows that insurers paid £1.23 billion in pet insurance claims during 2024, setting a new record.

The figure represented a 4 per cent increase year on year, with the average claim rising to £685.

Published in May 2025, the ABI findings also referenced Office for National Statistics data showing veterinary and related pet service prices increased by 9.1 per cent in 2024.

The Competition and Markets Authority has subsequently required veterinary practices to publish price lists and placed limits on prescription charges following its market investigation.

Meeting the Needs of Modern Pet Owners

Paul Byrne, Group Chairman and CEO of Tedaisy Insurance Group, highlighted the importance of giving customers suitable options as veterinary medicine develops.

“Owners tell us the same thing again and again: they want to say yes to the treatment their vet recommends without doing the sums first,” Byrne said.

He explained: “Referral work, advanced imaging and long-term medication are now part of everyday veterinary care, and a single year of treatment can run well past £5,000. Our new £7,000 and £10,000 levels mean that when one serious condition needs more than that, owners have more cover available towards it.”

Byrne also commented: “Pet insurance has become an everyday financial product for millions of households. Our job is to make sure the cover keeps pace with the bills, not just the premiums.”

Features Available to Policyholders

Alongside the new financial limits, Perfect Pet continues to offer benefits across its lifetime insurance range.

These include:

  • Insurance from four weeks of age, with no upper age limit for new policies
  • A 15 per cent multi-pet discount
  • Free Vet Assist telephone calls with a veterinary nurse, available around the clock
  • Reduced prices on prescription medicines

Perfect Pet has received an “Excellent” Trustpilot rating from more than 17,000 customer reviews.

The business was named Best Pet Insurance Provider UK 2025 at the Insurance Choice Awards and achieved a five-star Moneyfacts dog insurance rating in 2026.

Cover Available Nationwide

UK customers can now purchase either the £7,000 or £10,000 lifetime policy for their dogs or cats.

Individual premiums reflect the pet’s characteristics, geographic location and selected cover.
