Founder of MOWGLI Street Food Sells Translation Company To European Businessman

The UK Broadcasting Corporation, British Red Cross, Natural History Museum, and the UK Parliament are all clients of DA Languages.

A Manchester-based translation firm backed by Mowgli Street Food has been sold to a European private equity investor.

IK Partners acquired DA Languages from Foresight Group for an undisclosed amount.

The firm was founded in 1998 and gave services to organisations interacting with non-English speakers.

Its network of translators and interpreters includes over 8,000 native-speaking professionals and provides face-to-face, video, and telephone interpretations, along with written translation assistance.

In May 2018, Foresight’s Regional Investment Fund invested in DAL.

Matthew Taylor, the managing director, and Actar Arya, the founder, will reinvest in the business.

Tom Salmon, the associate at IK Partners and consultant to the Small Cap III Fund, stated: “DAL is an attractive business operating in a sector with strong, long-term growth potential.

“We are very impressed with Matthew and the team, who have expanded the business’ framework capabilities and client base and further developed DAL’s proprietary technology.

“With a track record of helping European technology-enabled services businesses grow speedily, we are pleased to be partnering with the leadership team on the next stage of the company’s growth.”

The managing director of DA Languages, Matthew Taylor, has continued: “We are grateful to Foresight for their encouragements to the last three and a half years, enabling us to expand our offerings to meet the strategic requirements of an increasingly diverse customer base.

Because of our partnership with IK, we will be able to enhance our quality service and technology proposition further.”

Claire Alvarez, a partner at Foresight, stated: “We have greatly enjoyed working with Matt, Actar and with an expert team at DAL, helping them develop their services to bolster vulnerable people.

“We are pleased that we have been able to support the company’s accelerated growth, creating so numerous new jobs while making such a worthwhile impression. Best wishes to the team for a bright future.”
