HOMEBUILDER BACKS KIDSBANK

ANWYL Homes has supported Chester charity KidsBank with a £1,000 funding boost and toy donations for its Christmas appeal.

The funds were awarded from the housebuilder’s Chester community fund, which shared £5,000 between local groups and good causes.

KidsBank Chester supports families with children aged from birth to 12 who fall under the poverty line.

Employees at the Anwyl’s head office in Ewloe, Flintshire, also set up a collection point for the KidsBank ‘One More Gift Appeal’, with additional donation stations created at Anwyl’s Flintshire, Chester and Ellesmere Port developments.

The gift collection followed on from the £1,000 Anwyl donated to fund the purchase of vital items for families most in need in Chester and the surrounding areas.

Based on Garden Lane, KidsBank Chester was founded in early 2019. It supports any family in need within a 10-mile radius, including single parents, survivors of domestic abuse, children and parents with physical and mental disabilities and refugees.

Laura Bellis, Vice Chair of Trustees for KidsBank, said: “By providing families with the items they need to provide the best possible childhood, we work towards instilling a sense of pride and hopefully breaking the cycle of poverty so many families find themselves in.

“There are hundreds of families in need of support in the area. In 2021 we helped 739 children from 453 families. Since then, the cost-of-living crisis has had a cataclysmic impact on the most vulnerable in society, widening the gap between the richest and poorest.

“Anwyl’s funding will help us purchase stock items, so we can assist the most vulnerable within our society in their time of need and support the residents to live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives. The donations to our ‘One More Gift’ appeal will also provide children with presents this Christmas to make sure every child in Chester and Flintshire receives a gift. Thank you to everyone at Anwyl for all of their amazing help.”

Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “We’ve seen first-hand the truly wonderful work the team at KidsBank Chester undertake in their local community to support families. They help relieve the pressure on families when they need it most, often giving them somewhere to turn when they have no other option. It is our absolute pleasure to provide £1,000 of funding alongside donations towards their Christmas gift appeal.”
