Senior Appointment Bolsters Family Practice for Brabners

With another senior appointment, the leading independent law firm Brabners continues to expand its family law practice.

Cara Nuttall joins as partner and will be based out of the firm’s new 20,000 sq ft Manchester office at Barbirolli Square. She joins from Simpson Millar where she led the national firm’s modern families team.

With almost 20 years specialising in complex child and fertility law, Cara brings with her proven experience in dealing with issues pertaining to domestic and international surrogacy, donation (also known as pre-conception agreements) and parenthood.

She is also highly regarded for her work in dealing with complex cross-border family disputes concerning children. Her work has included cases involving families in Australia, the US, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Far East.

In her new role, she will support one of the North’s largest family law practices, providing counsel to an extensive base of high-net-worth clients including business owners, media personalities, owners of landed estates and elite athletes.

Brabners is currently ranked as the UK’s 22nd best large company to work for, and the 4th best law firm to work for in the UK. It recently achieved B-Corp status and completed relocations for both its Lancashire and Manchester teams to new Grade A office spaces. The firm also recently launched its new Yorkshire office at Leeds’ 1 City Square.

Nik White, managing partner at Brabners, said: “2022 was another year of positive growth for the firm as we continued to invest in our people and the service we offer to our clients. In particular, our private client brand Brabners Personal has gone from strength to strength with a range of specialisms, and the addition of Cara’s expertise in fertility law and modern families related issues will undoubtedly create further new opportunities this year. I look forward to seeing her growing this area of our family practice as we invest further and build a team around her.”

Cara Nuttall, partner at Brabners, said: “Brabners’ family law practice has grown significantly in recent years, with the team advising some of the UK’s most recognisable public figures on complex matters. The firm’s standout culture and reputation for excellence in customer service were a real draw for me, so it’s a pleasure to join and support as it continues to act as a force for good for clients and in the local community.”
