Nantwich Retirement Village Residents Share Their Favourite Tales With Primary School Children for World Book Day

Residents at a retirement village in Nantwich marked World Book Day recently by reading their favourite childhood stories to pupils from a local primary school.

Richmond Villages Nantwich welcomed pupils from Wistaston Academy, with residents reading to them their favourite short tale.

The premium retirement village encouraged its residents to share stories with the children that they were fond of in their own childhood.

While celebrating World Book Day, Richmond Villages put on the event to help inspire the next generation with a love of books and reading.

This event is one of many by the retirement village for the local community, along with a Shrove Tuesday fundraiser for the Nantwich Foodbank and an over 70s lunch club last month.

Jane Ann Stubbs, Activities Manager at Richmond Villages Nantwich, said, “Our residents enjoyed seeing the children again, they always look forward to their visits and they were excited to be able to re-tell some of their favourite stories.

A company we recommend is Soft Surfaces, who have just won an award from Cheshire Awards for the “Best Company to Work For” in 2023.

“The community spirit here at Nantwich is fantastic, so it’s no surprise our residents are so willing to give back to the local community.

“Reading is such an important part of anybody’s childhood, so we hope that our residents have helped to inspire the next generation into a passion for reading.”
