Everton full-back Mykolenko to miss the rest of the season

Everton left-back Vitalii Mykolenko will miss the Toffees’ last three games of the season due to an ankle injury.

The Ukraine international fell awkwardly during last Wednesday’s 2-0 win against Liverpool at Goodison Park and was withdrawn at half-time.

He won’t require surgery but will not be available for Everton’s games with Luton Town, Sheffield United and Arsenal.

A club statement read: “Vitalii Mykolenko suffered an ankle ligament injury during the 2-0 Merseyside derby win against Liverpool last Wednesday.

“The Blues left-back, who came off at half-time during the clash at Goodison Park, has been assessed by a specialist, who revealed the Ukraine international will not require surgery.

“However, Mykolenko will not be available for Everton for the remainder of the season.”

The win over Liverpool, and the subsequent 1-0 defeat of Brentford on Saturday, means Sean Dyche’s men have secured their top-flight status despite a combined eight-point penalty for two separate breaches of Profit and Sustainability regulations.
