Community event helps Radway residents clean up

A community clean up day in Alsager helped residents get rid of hundreds of unwanted items.

The event, held recently on the Radway Estate, was organised by partner organisations including Plus Dane Housing, Alsager Community Support, Cheshire East Council, Alsager Town Council, Cheshire Fire & Rescue, Cheshire Police, Change Grow Live, and the Alsager Clean Team.

Three skips were provided for residents to use, and more than 270 items were disposed of. Plus Dane’s Environmental Team helped to collect a further 43 items from customers homes.

The event aimed to promote engagement, wellbeing and reporting of anti social behaviour and environmental issues on the estate.

Plus Dane shared a survey with more than 350 people to help identity issues in the area, and encourage customers to access relevant support services.

Usman Ashiq, strategic partnerships manager at Plus Dane, said: “Community clean up days are really positive for local residents and it was great to see so many people getting involved and giving us their views on how the area can be improved moving forward.”
