Claridge’s Furniture and Art Archive to Go Under the Hammer

Claridge’s, recently named the UK’s best hotel in The World’s 50 Best Hotels list, is set to auction a collection of archived furniture and art, with items also from The Connaught and The Berkeley.

Maybourne, which owns these world-famous hotels, has teamed up with NCM Auctions once again to present this incredible array of stored items to the public.

The archive spans over 100 years and includes custom furniture by leading designers like Ben Whistler and David Linley, along with pieces from the Marcus Wareing Restaurant and ceramics by John Wigmore.

The auction, which takes place over two days on 25 and 26 September, will feature antique furniture, bespoke commissions, artwork, lighting, and various other pieces from the trio of London hotels.

As part of its sustainability strategy, Maybourne is collaborating with NCM Auctions to ensure these timeless pieces are given a new lease of life.

Amy Rutherford, partnership lead at NCM, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the team at Maybourne again and we can’t wait to bring this collection to a global audience once more with our live hybrid auction. The catalogue features over 600 items and includes iconic pieces from David Linley, exclusively for Claridge’s, seating and tables direct from The Blue Bar, items from the Marcus Wareing Restaurant and many more.”

Potential bidders can place their bids online ahead of the auction, which begins on 25 September. Viewings of the collection are available on 24 September by appointment.

Interested individuals must register and book an appointment for viewing by calling NCM on 01302 898260. The catalogue is now available online, and pre-auction bidding is open. The live auction will commence at 11am on 25 and 26 September.
