Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a fatal collision in Chester.
At around 4.38pm on Wednesday, officers responded to reports that a blue Volkswagen T-Cross had collided with a tree on Littleheath Road in Christleton.
An 87-year-old man from Frodsham – the driver of the car – was treated by paramedics at the scene but passed away a short time later.
His next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are particularly keen to identify a man who had been walking his dog and stopped at the scene to assist.
Sergeant Russell Sime, of the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, said: “Enquires in relation to this collision are ongoing and we are committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what took place.
“As part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes they may have witnessed the incident. The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage or CCTV footage which may aid the investigation.
“Our officers are also keen to identify a male dogwalker who arrived on the scene shortly after the collision took place and provided assistance to the casualty.”
