Social Security Reinforces The Inspection Of Fraud In Cases Of Temporary Disability

The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) has announced that it will increase the money allocated to the analysis and control of Temporary Disability. The Administration will invest 315 million euros to reinforce the inspection of possible cases of fraud .

These new agreements, signed with the autonomous communities (except the Basque Country and Navarra) and the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA), include various improvements for the supervision and control of this service and are aimed at optimizing the duration of the processes of IT .

As explained by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, the purpose of this initiative is to establish collaboration and coordination agreements between the General State Administration and the Autonomous Administrations, through the respective Health ministries, to study the behavior of the Temporary Disability benefit in each community, so that appropriate controls can be established .

The cases of people with the most recurrent disabilities will be examined.
According to the Ministry, from now on specialized medical units will be created in the most prevalent pathologies . In addition, the use of predictive tools in medical examinations and the reinforcement of material, computer and human resources is proposed.

In other words, the Administration will reinforce all the tools and means at its disposal to detect possible Social Security fraud by people with Temporary Disability, starting with those with the most recurrent pathologies. “It is about promoting an optimal functioning of the dynamics of the provision and guaranteeing the protective purpose of the same, together with the necessary control to avoid possible fraud”, as explained by the Ministry.

This control work will not be carried out by the Government in its entirety, but it will be the regional health systems that will be in charge of making it effective.
