Rise in demand sees Manchester Translation provider fuel growth

A Greater Manchester-based translation and language services provider has achieved double digit revenue growth following a rise in demand for cost effective translation services to support international business growth.

The Translation People, which also has offices in Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Tunbridge Wells, as well as in Germany, France and the US, saw turnover for 2021 increase to £7.2m, a growth of almost 24 per cent compared to 2020. It welcomed 631 new clients in the last 12 months, accounting for 65 per cent growth across the group. New customers include specialists in the pharmaceuticals, e-learning, financial and automotive sectors.

The company puts the success down to increased confidence in business expenditure following economic turbulence in 2020 due to Covid-19, and the breadth of its service portfolio, allowing it to respond to a greater number of clients producing or managing multilingual content.

Its customers use translation services for activities as diverse as promoting their brands overseas, supporting multilingual workforces and responding to global opportunities. With that in mind, The Translation People has invested significantly into its offering, including improved machine translation solutions, more streamlined video translation processes and a wider e-learning portfolio. More recent service launches include AI-based transcription offerings and real-time live captioning, to respond to the changing needs of businesses operating around the world.

The Translation People is predicting further growth this year, having set out a roadmap in 2021 to double its revenues by 2025 through acquisitions and consistent organic growth.

Jasmin Schneider, managing director of The Translation People, said: “All four of our regions – the UK, France, Germany and US – experienced strong growth, which is testament to the ways in which we’ve been able to respond to the needs of our clients’ businesses around the world as they’ve adapted to the impacts of the pandemic.

“From investing into innovative services in line with customer requirements, to focusing on our customer care we have achieved an impressive client retention and new customer acquisition rate. Our growth demonstrates that we’ve taken the steps needed to ensure the highest quality, most cost-effective translation solutions are on offer to give our clients a competitive advantage in their industries.

“As well as seeing increased demand for remote interpreting and video translation, we’ve seen a rise in e-learning translation projects and requests to integrate with client translation or content management systems. Over the last few years, we’ve invested to offer clients better quality and more secure machine translation services, which we recently made available to clients directly through an on-demand portal, which has enabled more businesses to make great use of this invaluable business tool in a more cost-effective way.

“Looking ahead, our new London office will provide us with an opportunity to expand our footprint in the South East, which will coincide with our ambitious growth targets. Companies’ needs in respect of translation are continually evolving, so we can’t rest on our laurels if we want to achieve our goals. From videos and live conferences right through to apps and virtual reality environments, we need to ensure that we are able to provide high-quality, cost-effective and streamlined options for businesses that need to cater for multilingual content, whatever the format.”

The Translation People has over 40 years’ experience of delivering high quality translation services and technology solutions to clients around the world. With a global network of over 4,500 professional translators, the company offers over 300 different language combinations, operating from nine offices across Europe and the USA to service customers, which range from global brands to smaller, independent businesses.
