Aaron on the Side of Caution takes to the track to raise funds for Hospice

Chester-based law firm Aaron & Partners has raised funds for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd by entering a team into the Farndon Soapbox Derby

The law firm has announced the Hospice as its official charity partner for the year, and made the podium at the inaugural event

A team from leading Chester law firm Aaron & Partners narrowly missed out on soapbox glory after securing a podium finish in the Farndon Soapbox Derby, in aid of Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

The five-strong Aaron & Partners’ team – ‘Aaron on the Side of Caution’ – recorded the fastest lap of the day, completing the course in just 30.1 seconds. But they were pipped to first place by a tenth of a second, making the podium in second place out of 38 entrants at the inaugural race.

The team’s entry into this year’s Soapbox Derby is one of several events that the Chester-based firm is supporting to help raise funds for the Hospice.

The charity, which relies mainly on donations, has been named as Aaron & Partners’ official charity of the year, and the firm is proud to support its services, which include providing palliative care free of charge.

This year’s race team included Joseph-Fletcher Hunt, Real Estate Partner; Matt Roberts, a Real Estate Paralegal; Marketing Executive Jacob Ryan and Marketing Manager Jonny Edwards who piloted the car.

Jonny Edwards from Aaron & Partners said: “We had a fantastic time preparing for this race and taking part on the day, which was a great event to kick off our fundraising in partnership with the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

“The turnout was brilliant, and with the event itself being in aid of the Hospice, we’re pleased to say a significant amount was raised on the day, with our team contributing over £1,000 to a very worthy cause.

“It was amazing to get the fastest lap, but having just missed out on first place, we’re aiming to return next year and go one step further, as well as looking to raise even more for the Hospice.”

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd has been running in Chester since 1983 and cooperates with a range of health specialists, counsellors, therapists, and social workers. Providing cost-free services to patients and families, the association with Aaron & Partners will significantly aid funds and support the charity’s work.

Alan Knell, Hospice of the Good Shepherd’s Philanthropy & Relationship Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be in partnership with Aaron & Partners as its official charity, and the Farndon Soapbox Derby was a brilliant way to start our work together.

“We rely heavily on donations to carry out our services, so this has come as a great boost for all our teams. We’re looking forward to working closely with the Aaron & Partners team on other activities soon.”
