Cheshire Dementia Village Praised by the Care Quality Commission

Richmond Villages Willaston has been rated as ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following its first inspection.

The CQC’s latest report commended Richmond Villages Willaston, rating it as ‘Good’ in all areas – safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

The dementia care village and care home, located on Crewe Road was praised for its care services, risk management, support staff and food offering. As well as praising the quality, effectiveness, and timely care, the report highlighted that the care home adapts services, and the design and decoration meet the residents’ needs.

During the inspection, the CQC team spoke to residents, relatives and staff. A relative spoke highly of the standard of care at Richmond Villages Willaston, saying: ”I cannot rate it highly enough. It’s well run, safe, clean, and caring, there isn’t a lot more you could ask for?”

Another relative added; “It is an incredible hub of excellence for dementia.”

The care home team is extremely efficient, which comes down to a number of factors, including a well-staffed and educated team.  A staff member shared: “Our manager is really approachable, a good leader and always available.”

Richmond Villages Willaston always has a busy schedule of weekly activities and events for its residents. One relative described a recent dance event and said: “The care home hosted a 50s-themed event the other week, the setup was like going back in time!”

Michelle Barrett, Village Manager, said: “We are very proud of the rating the CQC has given us. The whole team works so hard, and it is brilliant to see all that work reflected in such a positive report.”
