Financial Planner’s Mount Kilimanjaro Climb Raises Over £32,000 for Charity

Jason Lowe, Partner and Financial Planner at Equilibrium Financial Planning in Wilmslow, has completed the epic challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of four chosen charities.

Jason raised the money with the help of The Equilibrium Foundation and generous donations from clients, friends, family and colleagues, far exceeding his original target of £10,000.

Reubens Retreat, East Cheshire Hospice, Cancer Research UK, and Nightingale House Hospice will each receive over £8,000 to help continue their vital work.

To prepare for the climb, Jason took part in months of training. It took five days to make the ascent with Jason, along with nine other climbers, reaching the summit just before 7am on the 18th of February.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the latest of many charity challenges that Jason has completed, following a 456-mile cycle ride across Portugal in April last year. Along with fellow Equilibrium Financial Planners Andrew Hirst and David McKendrick, the trio raised £21,000 for three charities.

Equilibrium Financial Planning has an ongoing commitment to supporting charities in the local community and beyond. Every team member receives three paid volunteering days each year and the business has achieved the highest possible Payroll Giving Award as a result of its Give as You Earn contribution scheme.

Reflecting on the climb, Jason said: “This was absolutely the toughest challenge that I have taken on so far. Whilst I had completed months of training, the mental and physical strain to reach the summit was something that nothing could prepare you for.

“I’m amazed by the generosity of all who donated, without which it wouldn’t have been possible. We’ve chosen really deserving causes who will utilise the donations to continue making a real difference to people’s lives.”
