EFL Cup: Sean Dyche welcomes his old Burnley side to Goodison

Sean Dyche and his Everton side welcome Burnley to Goodison Park in the EFL Cup in what will be “a special moment” for the old Burnley manager.

After being sacked by the Clarets after 425 games in charge, Dyche is that of a legend at Turf Moor. He got the team in the Premier League and got them back up again in a remarkable show of his managerial ability.

Now manager of the opposition, Burnley boss Vincent Kompany spoke pre-match about his side facing their old boss.

He said: “It will be a special moment.

“It’s going to be a good moment for him. I can relate to when I played Manchester City for the first time.”

Kompany also spoke of the achievements that the now-Everton manager had during his time at the club and acknowledged the fantastic feel of being involved with Burnley.

“It’s always a special moment, and in the end, this club, in general, has always been a club with a lot of stability.

“He used the time he had really well, got the team in the Premier League and got them back up again.

“It’s a beautiful club to be a part of.”
