Poundland Founder Promotes UK Franchising Growth

Steven Smith, founder of Poundland and successful entrepreneur, is lending his expertise to a new initiative designed to foster franchising in the UK. The programme, known as Franchise Angels, has been launched by Joel Bissitt, a seasoned franchising expert and the founder of Infinity Business Growth NetworkFranchise UK & the Quality Franchise Association.

Joining Bissitt are Steven Smith and Ian Townsend, COO of the Quality Franchise Association and a legal expert in franchising. Franchise Angels will concentrate on businesses that have already achieved success and possess a strong brand. The programme aims to provide end-to-end franchising support, operational advice, and assistance with planning exit strategies. Businesses that apply and are shortlisted will present their cases to the Franchise Angels panel in a “Dragons’ Den” style event.

Joel Bissitt expressed his excitement, saying: “We have a great combination of skills & experience in our team including investing, legal & franchising. I am delighted that someone of Steven’s stature is supporting this initiative, supporting the growth of small businesses & flying the flag for UK entrepreneurship.”

Steven Smith commented: “Success is not just about what you accomplish in your life, it’s about what you inspire others to do. I am therefore delighted to support this project & look forward to supporting ambitious entrepreneurs.”
