UK Studio Sees Record-Breaking Demand for Voiceover in 2025

Professional voiceover work is experiencing its strongest year yet, according to Matinée Multilingual, the Reading-based voiceover and subtitling studio.

From eLearning and explainer videos to internal communications and social media, voiceover has become essential in producing engaging and accessible content. And in 2025, demand has risen to unprecedented levels.

Cisco Systems forecasts that video will make up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic this year, a remarkable increase compared with 2017, when traffic levels were 15 times lower. This dramatic surge has fuelled the need for professional voiceovers, with businesses and creators striving to meet international demand through polished, localised video.

“Video is now the default way people learn, shop, and communicate,” says a spokesperson from Matinée Multilingual, a UK-based voiceover and subtitling studio. “But the voice you hear in that video is just as important as the visuals. It shapes tone, builds trust, and makes content feel human.”

While synthetic voices generated by AI are increasingly available, many organisations continue to prefer professional narrators, particularly for training, onboarding, brand campaigns, and international outreach. Human delivery adds credibility, nuance, and emotional depth that automated options still lack.

“Businesses are realising that a well-delivered voiceover isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s the difference between being understood or switched off,” Matinée’s team explains.

Matinée Multilingual, headquartered in Reading, offers voiceover, translation, and subtitling in over 80 languages. With a wide global network of voice actors and translators, its in-house team oversees everything from script editing and casting to final recording and production, providing a full-service solution for localised video.

Clients range from global media firms and broadcasters to eLearning platforms and independent creators. UK companies are increasingly seeking support from studios like Matinée to enhance accessibility or expand internationally.

The company highlights that even traditional industries are now investing in voiceovers, with particular growth seen in healthcare, manufacturing, education, and technology, where clear communication across teams and borders is critical.

“People expect content to be clear, inclusive, and in their own language,” says the Matinée team. “Voiceover is what makes that possible, especially when you’re trying to connect across borders.”

As video cements its dominance in 2025 and beyond, voiceover remains a central tool for helping brands connect, inspire, and educate audiences.

“It’s not just about reading a script,” says Matinée. “It’s about finding the right voice, and using it to make sure your message lands.”
