DCBL celebrates another successful year of Widnes Vikings sponsorship with Rugby League video game giveaway

DCBL and the Widnes Vikings marked the end of another successful year of partnership in style at the Vikings’ final home game of the season, delighting fans with a surprise video game giveaway.

As the club’s stadium sponsor and front-of-shirt sponsor across the men’s, women’s, and wheelchair teams, debt resolution specialists DCBL gave away 50 copies of the brand-new Rugby League 26 video game for PS5 and Xbox to unsuspecting fans.

In a first for the firm, the DCBL Stadium and front-of-shirt sponsorship feature in the virtual world of the Rugby League 26 game, developed by Big Ant Studios. To celebrate the occasion, a special edition cover was created exclusively for the giveaway, showcasing players from all three Widnes Vikings teams.

The final home game festivities were part of a wider fan fun day outside the ground, which featured live music, entertainment, games, and a variety of food and drink stalls, ensuring a memorable occasion for supporters of all ages, in the clash against the London Broncos.

Darren Connor, Managing Director at DCBL, said: “We’re proud to continue our partnership with the Widnes Vikings and to be part of a historic moment with our brand now featured in the Rugby League 26 game. Giving fans something extra on the final game day was our way of saying thank you for their incredible support this season. It’s been fantastic to see the excitement from the crowd and to celebrate our ongoing commitment to the club and community.”

DCBL has been the stadium sponsor for the past six years and became front-of-shirt sponsor for the club and its teams, in a multi-year deal in 2023.

Stuart Murphy, Chairman of Widnes Vikings, added: “The support from DCBL continues to be invaluable across our men’s, women’s, and wheelchair teams. Their commitment goes far beyond sponsorship, their support ensures the continuation of our community and keeps this rugby club at the heart of it. The Rugby League 26 game giveaway was a brilliant way to round off the season, and we’re thrilled to see the Vikings and DCBL represented in the virtual world too.”
