Event professionals who have helped deliver some of the world’s biggest sporting, cultural and corporate occasions are being recognised through a new initiative launched by UK training provider Event Academy.
The Academy has unveiled its first ‘Hall of Fame’, celebrating the career achievements of former students who have progressed into influential roles across the global events industry. Its alumni are now contributing to major occasions ranging from the Olympics and Glastonbury to international sporting competitions and high-profile corporate technology conferences.
Since opening in 2012, Event Academy has seen more than 5,500 students graduate and move into careers across the competitive events sector. The new initiative highlights the professional journeys of these graduates, with dedicated Diploma and Postgraduate Hall of Fame lists showcasing their achievements.
Among those featured are graduates working in major international sport and venue operations. Emma Thomas, for example, works as a Football Operations Manager Consultant for FIFA, while Madeleine Hollis held the position of Venue Operations Co-Ordinator for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The lists also recognise alumni making their mark in the corporate, luxury and entertainment industries. These include Abbey Mercer, Operations Co-Ordinator at IMG, and Tiziano Piervisiani, who worked as an Event Producer for Eurovision 2022.
Other graduates have taken on responsibility for major operations at internationally recognised venues, including the Royal Botanic Gardens, while others are involved in delivering leading technology summits, established music festivals and prestigious corporate events around the world.
Tania Tilbrook, Head of Marketing at Event Academy, said: “We are incredibly proud to launch the Hall of Fame and formally recognise the outstanding global impact our alumni are making. When our students join us, they bring raw passion and ambition. Through our rigorous, hands-on methodology, we transform that potential into the practical expertise required to deliver high-stakes events to millions of attendees. Seeing our graduates at the helm of the world’s most significant cultural and sporting moments is the ultimate validation of our educational approach”.
Event Academy attributes the success of its graduates to the practical nature and high standards of its training programmes. It says it offers the only event management courses accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
Its range of degree-alternative routes, intensive diplomas and postgraduate programmes is designed to give students practical experience and access to industry networks, with real-world placements forming an important part of the learning process. The Academy aims to equip graduates with the skills and contacts needed to progress into senior positions across the international events industry.
