Briars Group Appointed to Employer of Record Lot on NWUPC Global Mobility Framework

Briars Group has announced its appointment to Lot 3: Employer of Record (EOR) on the North Western Universities Purchasing Consortium (NWUPC) Global Mobility Services Framework, reinforcing its role as a trusted partner for international workforce solutions.

The appointment provides universities across the UK with a compliant and agile approach to hiring overseas, offering an alternative to costly and complex entity establishment.

As institutions seek to strengthen their international presence, challenges such as varied compliance requirements, high start-up costs, and drawn-out procurement processes have become barriers. Briars’ three decades of expertise supporting over 3,000 organisations worldwide will now enable universities to overcome these hurdles through a single streamlined framework.

By acting as the legal employer under Lot 3 – Employer of Record, Briars ensures global hiring is carried out in line with tax, payroll, HR, and employment rules. This alleviates pressure on internal university teams, who can redirect their focus towards academic priorities.

Additional benefits include avoiding the overhead of setting up foreign entities, enabling faster onboarding of global talent, and accessing a pre-approved supplier via the NWUPC framework to reduce administrative delays.

Andrew Fahey, CEO of Briars Group said: “We are delighted to be appointed to the NWUPC Global Mobility Services Framework. Universities are at the heart of advancing knowledge and fostering international collaboration, and we’re proud to help them achieve that on a global scale.

“This appointment highlights Briars’ proven expertise in compliance, HR, and workforce solutions. It’s an exciting venture for the company that allows us to help universities all over the country access international and domestic staff flexibly and compliantly.”

Setting itself apart from tech-only services, Briars provides a personalised, practical approach, integrating seamlessly with university HR, payroll, and compliance functions. This ensures institutions can deliver their teaching and research ambitions while Briars handles the operational demands of international hiring.
