Veteran novelist’s fifth spy thriller arrives on 11 September 2026, bringing together romance, espionage and supernatural intrigue in a near-future adventure
MILTON KEYNES, UK. August 5th, 2026 – David Dye is preparing to publish his fifth novel, Rashi, Compelled by AI. Junior, Possessed by Destiny, on 11 September 2026. The upcoming release builds on his established collection of romantic espionage thrillers, introducing readers to a story where artificial intelligence, global conflict and destiny become closely intertwined.
The novel is set in the late 2030s and combines espionage, artificial intelligence, romance and humour with a supernatural storyline. As the possibility of a Third World War grows ever closer, an elite intelligence team undertakes a dangerous mission while receiving guidance from the spirit of a former operative determined to help its leader fulfil a greater purpose.
“With Rashi, I wanted to explore the meeting point of artificial intelligence, human courage and destiny. At its heart, the story is about hope, resilience and the choices that define our future.” said David Dye.
Packed with suspense while maintaining an uplifting spirit, the novel considers how advances in technology, personal courage and strong human bonds can provide hope during times of uncertainty.
The publication marks the latest entry in Dye’s interconnected series of thrillers, each featuring intelligence operations, political intrigue and a cast of memorable characters.
A lifelong Londoner and one of the few remaining true Cockneys, David Dye spent his childhood in West Ham within the sound of the original Bow Bells. Now approaching 80 years of age, he has written five novels inspired by his passion for espionage, romance and the enduring resilience of the human spirit.
Dye began writing after losing his wife, using storytelling as a creative outlet. Instead of completing an autobiography, he found inspiration in a woman named Anneliese, whom he met during a business trip to the Netherlands. Their friendship, which has lasted for decades, became the inspiration for the fictional heroine who appears throughout his novels.
Although the stories themselves are fictional, Dye says one aspect reflects reality: Anneliese worked as an undercover agent for a Western nation. Everything else is left to the imagination of readers. The following is an overview of each of Dye’s novels:
Rashi, Compelled by AI. Junior, Possessed by Destiny
The latest novel introduces a near-future setting in which artificial intelligence has transformed the world. As international tensions continue to escalate, a covert intelligence team confronts increasingly complex threats while receiving unexpected guidance from the Metaphysical Realm. The story delivers a distinctive romantic thriller filled with futuristic ideas, humour, suspense and an underlying message of hope.
It’s Your Duty to Die
This political thriller presents a future in which Britain’s democracy faces unprecedented danger after an extremist government assumes power. Supported by hostile foreign interests, the regime introduces increasingly authoritarian policies, prompting the newly created European American Intelligence (EAI) organisation to launch an operation aimed at restoring stability. Led by Anneliese and her son, Frank Junior, the novel blends espionage, romance and humour while emphasising the importance of defending democratic institutions.
New Havana Syndrome!
This high-pressure thriller centres on coordinated terrorist attacks that cripple healthcare systems throughout the Western world while a mysterious neurological illness incapacitates senior government officials. Intelligence operative Anneliese commands an elite team determined to stop the expanding crisis, facing international conspiracies, hostage situations and supernatural forces in a race against time.
Anneliese and the Geezer
Serving as a prequel to Cold War, Hot Pursuit, this novel tells the story of Anneliese’s first undercover operation after graduating from university. Assigned to infiltrate an organised crime network during the Cold War, she unexpectedly falls in love with the man she has been sent to expose, forcing her to choose between professional duty and personal loyalty.
