Former nursery in Cheshire let to new education provider for children with additional needs

In east Cheshire, children with additional needs will shortly have a new place to learn after a lease was confirmed on a former nursery and primary school.

The Tatton Estate has signed a lease with an educational charity which uses outdoor activities to help teach children with additional needs. The deal was negotiated by leading property consultancy Fisher German with the former Ashley School Nursery in Ashley on the Estate’s behalf.

The former school and nursery is a 2,917 sq. ft detached building owned by the Estate, which has secured its continued use to support the community, education and young people by letting it to the new education provider. The charity will deliver education services for children with additional needs within the state system.

Rupert Collis, Partner at Fisher German, said: “We worked alongside Tatton Estate and Ashley Parish Council to ensure the building remained as a place for state education.

“We saw significant interest from a range of parties for the former nursery and were able to secure terms with the new occupiers that will benefit both them and Tatton Estate.

“It’s fantastic that the building will continue to serve children in the area as a place to support them as a result of this deal.

“Considering the pressures on the economy at the moment, the commercial market around Knutsford in this special part of Cheshire remains resilient and this latest deal is a great example of that.”

Solicitors Butcher & Barlow acted for Tatton Estate during the negotiations.

Rachel Martin, Partner at Butcher & Barlow, added: “It’s always satisfying to be part of a project that will make a difference.

“Working collaboratively with the different parties involved meant we were able to overcome numerous challenges to everyone’s satisfaction.

“It was a pleasure to work alongside Fisher German and Tatton Estate in successfully concluding the transaction.”

Mr and Mrs Henry Brooks of the Tatton Estate commented: “We are a proud supporter of the Cheshire Community Foundation and are delighted to welcome a well-established charity to Tatton.

“The charity’s goals align with ours in terms of delivering long-term benefits for the communities that we live and work in, in particular relating to skills, education and young people.

“We are especially pleased that our joint working with the Parish Councillors is building special partnerships with strong local support to ensure community assets remain at the heart of the Tatton Estate.”
