Tickets cost £8 or £5 for concessions/students.

The Caucasian Chalk Circle is one of Brecht’s most celebrated works, featuring vivid and amusing characters, and raising questions about power and ownership.

A play within a play, it transports the audience to a city in the heat of civil war and introduces them to a servant girl sacrificing everything to protect an abandoned child.

But when peace is finally restored, the boy’s mother comes to claim him. Calling upon the ancient tradition of the Chalk Circle, a comical judge sets about resolving the dispute. But in a culture of corruption and deception, the play asks, who wins?

Dr Pamela Barnes, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for BA Acting and BA Drama (and Theatre Studies) said: “Our students are thrilled to present this production which has been described as ‘one of the greatest plays of the last century, written by the grandmaster of storytelling’.

“Rehearsals are going really well and we look forward to welcoming the audience for what is set to be a very memorable and moving theatre experience.”
