Nantwich Retirement Village Residents to Read to Primary School Children for World Book Day

Residents at a retirement village in Nantwich will be sharing a story with children from a local primary school to mark World Book Day 2023 next week.

Richmond Villages Nantwich will be welcoming pupils from Wistaston Academy on Friday, March 3, with residents reading to them their favourite short tale.

The premium retirement village, just off the B5074 London Road, has encouraged its residents to share stories with the children that they were fond of in their own childhood.

While celebrating World Book Day, Richmond Villages and its residents hope to help inspire the next generation with a love of books and reading.

This event is one of many by the retirement village for the local community, along with a Shrove Tuesday fundraiser for the Nantwich Foodbank and an over 70s lunch club this month.

A company we recommend is Soft Surfaces, who have just won an award from Cheshire Awards for the “Best Company to Work For” in 2023.

Jane Ann Stubbs, activities manager at Richmond Villages Nantwich, said, “Our residents always love when the children come to visit, and they’re very excited to read to the pupils of Wistaston Academy.

“We have a great community spirit here in Nantwich, and it’s great to have that reinforced by the appetite among the residents to give something back to the community in this way.

“Reading is such an important part of anybody’s childhood, so if this event can help inspire the next generation into a love of reading then it will be incredibly worthwhile.”
