Students to host KidzKraze Fun Fest in aid of KidsBank

To raise money for KidsBank, University students are organising KidzKraze Fun Fest in Chester with face painting, crafts, and games.

KidzKraze Events, a group of University of Chester Events Management students, is hosting the fundraising children’s activity day, open to the public, at Lache Community Centre, from 10am to 2pm, on Saturday February 25.

The tickets start from £3 per child, with all proceeds going to KidsBank Chester – a charity supplying resources of all kinds to families who need them across Chester and the wider area.

KidzKraze Fun Fest will be full of activities including arts, temporary tattoos, raffles and lucky dips, to help keep the kids entertained during the half term holiday. Refreshments will also be available at the event, with hot drinks and juice free of charge, as well as a variety of snacks available to purchase at the café on site.

Millie Campbell-Williams, Team Leader of KidzKraze Events, said: “We have worked really hard on this event as a team, and wish for it to be really successful in raising awareness for KidsBank.

“As students, organising this event has been a great opportunity for us to develop our event planning skills and prepare us for the industry in the future.”

Lisa Metcalfe, Office Manager at KidsBank Chester said: “As the cost-of-living crisis hits, we want to make sure that every family who is struggling gets some help from us if they need it – we are up around 70% on referrals from the previous year at the moment.”

When asked how KidzKraze Fun Fest can benefit KidsBank, Lisa added: “The financial donations that come in will help us buy items for our families but then also, we would love to just raise awareness of what we do for people in the community.”

The event is being run by four second year Events Management degree students. They are tasked to plan, organise and deliver a live event of their choice, in aid of charity, and the students have worked hard to fundraise for the event and highlight the work of the charity.

The team also held a very popular bake sale at Chester Business School which raised more than £200. This, as well as kind donations from businesses across the North West area, has enabled the team to fund materials for the event – ensuring it will be as successful as possible.

KidzKraze Fun Fest will be a ‘drop-in/drop-out’ session between 10am and 2pm on Saturday February 25, at Lache Community Centre, Hawthorn Road, Chester. Ages from three years old and above are welcome to join in with all the activities on offer, accompanied by parents and guardians.

KidsBank is a Christian charity that distributes resources to parents who are experiencing financial hardship, and in turn benefits the children and parents by instilling confidence and a sense of value. Donations such as clothes, blankets, nappies, as well as monetary donations, help to relieve poverty within the Chester area – as well as promote environmental sustainability by donating good quality pre-owned and new items.
