SOLAR EXPERTS BASED IN STOCKPORT CREATE WORLD CUP ENERGY CAMPAIGN

The country’s leading retailer and installer of solar panels, Project Solar UK, based in Houldsworth Mill on Houldsworth Lane in Stockport, created a high-profile campaign focussed on energy expenditure in this year’s World Cup.

The company’s data science team calculated key statistics to establish the individual energy outputs of the tournament’s most high-profile players and then assessed how these  could be converted to run appliances in a domestic setting.

Analysing  data such as kilometres ran per game and  kilowatts of energy produced by the individual footballers, the Project Solar UK team calculated  what those figures equated to power domestic appliances.

Comparisons were made such as kilowatts required to power a television set for a number of hours to broadcast football matches and  energy requirements to power Christmas lights,  ensuring the  social media campaign secured engagement from its target audiences.

In a typical match the data science team calculated that a player such as England’s Declan Rice can run  over 40km and produce over 4 kilowatts of energy –  enough to power a television for 279 hours to watch 186 football matches.

The World Cup tournament data the team researched on the elite athletes demonstrates their incredible energy output and serves to highlight its vital role. Making the link to the natural source of energy in the sunshine draws attention to just how solar panels capture and harness energy and convert it to power devices and appliances in our homes. As energy bills continue to increase, Project Solar UK has witnessed a surge in enquiries to find out more about natural and value for money energy sources and has set up a free hotline on 0800 112 3110 to explain how solar energy works and how domestic energy bills compare.
