Crimestoppers appeals to Cheshire to share information anonymously as reports of serious violence rise

Independent charity Crimestoppers has launched a new campaign across the North West to encourage people to report information about serious and violent crime, safely and 100% anonymously, as the region experiences a significant increase in reports made to the charity over the past nine months.

The campaign, part of Crimestoppers’ UK-wide focus on tackling violence, highlights the vital role that community information plays in protecting lives and disrupting criminal networks. Serious violence, including knife and gun crime, continues to devastate families and communities, and much of it is preventable when people feel confident to speak up.

Crimestoppers is urging residents to share any information they might have about weapons, organised crime, or individuals involved in intimidation, drug-related violence or exploitation.

Gary Murray North West Regional Manager at the charity Crimestoppers said: “We’ve seen a clear rise in the number of people contacting Crimestoppers across the North West, proof that local communities want to stop the violence that harms their neighbourhoods.

“Serious crime often thrives on silence, and we understand that some people fear the consequences of speaking up. Crimestoppers is here to remove that fear. You can tell us what you know about weapons, drug gangs or violent behaviour completely anonymously. We don’t ask for names or personal details, and your call or online form can’t be traced.

“Every piece of information we pass on helps to make our communities safer. Your voice can help stop violence before someone gets hurt.”

If you have information about weapons, violent offences or organised criminal activity, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via secure online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
