Bellway donates to Salvation Army Christmas toy appeal

Housebuilder Bellway is helping put presents under trees this year with a £300 donation for the toy appeal run by the Northwich Salvation Army branch.

Bellway also donated some toys and enlisted the help of residents at its Rose Meadow development on London Road in Northwich, asking them to give new and unwrapped toys, books, clothes and toiletries, with 35 items collected.

Last year, the Salvation Army in Northwich distributed gifts to more than 100 families, but with the cost of living crisis ongoing, there are fears that even more people will need help this year.

Fully committed to supporting the local community, Bellway collected the toys over the course of two weeks and delivered them to the church on Tabley Street in Northwich yesterday, allowing the volunteers at the Salvation Army plenty of time to purchase additional items and distribute to families in the area through local schools, groups and social services.

Jenny Bell, sales director at Bellway, says: “Christmas can be a stressful time of year for some so when we read about the Salvation Army’s toy appeal in Northwich we wanted to help out.  By making a monetary donation the charity can buy items to suit all ages, and by asking our residents at Rose Meadow to donate too, there were lots of gifts to deliver.

“All children should be able to open presents on Christmas Day and with more families struggling this year, we were pleased to be able to support the Salvation Army, helping to relieve some of the pressure and spread some festive joy.”

To donate, drop off at the church on Tabley Street on Tuesdays or Fridays between 10am and 12noon, or to make alternative arrangements call 01606 330572.
