Home secretary Suella Braverman sacked

Suella Braverman has been relieved of her duties as the home secretary.

Rishi Sunak found himself under increasing pressure amidst allegations that Ms Braverman exacerbated tensions in the lead-up to Armistice Day protests, prompting calls for the prime minister to dismiss her.

A source from 10 Downing Street revealed that Mr. Sunak “sought Suella Braverman’s departure from the government, and she has accepted.”

The Conservatives announced that Mr Sunak is overseeing a broader reshuffling to “bolster his team in the government for making lasting decisions toward a more positive future.”

Criticism mounted against Ms Braverman after she authored an unauthorised article in the Times, published on Thursday.

In the piece, she criticised what she referred to as ‘pro-Palestinian mobs’ and condemned the Metropolitan Police for a perceived ‘double standard’ in handling protests.

Following her dismissal, Braverman said: “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as home secretary. I will have more to say in due course.”

Former prime minister David Cameron was spotted entering No 10 this morning, along with the current foreign secretary, James Cleverly.

If Mr Cameron were to make a return, it’s worth noting that he is no longer a member of parliament and would need to be sworn in by the House of Lords as a matter of urgency.
